10 ways to Boost your Immune System During the Holiday Season

10. LAUGH!

Find a reason to laugh! Researchers have shown that being happy = being healthy.

9. ANTIBIOTICS

Misuse of antibiotics can actually LOWER your immune system. Make sure that you are not overmedicating yourself when you aren't sick because that simple daily act of overmedication can make you more susceptible to viruses.

8. GET RID OF THE JUNK FOOD

Junk food as everyone knows contains many things things that are not good for your body. The one thing that is commmon amongst all junk food is FAT and SUGAR. Polyunsaturated fats suppress the immune system. Sugars inhibits the ability for your white blood cells to ward off bacteria.

7. AVOID ISOLATION

Very simply be around people. They say the idle mind is the devil's workshop. In this case it is worse for your health than you may think. Studies have shown that persons who do not have community, friends, family or other opportunities for contact are more likely to get sick. Say hello to soemone in the elevator, or invite someone to lunch with you to see where they are coming from. You never know what you may get back from that person.

6. SEDENTARY LIFESTYLE

This is very important. I don't know how to stress this enough. IF YOU DO NOT WORK OUT, at least DO SOMETHING. Whether it is taking a walk with your kids or significant other, or going out for a night of dancing. An active lifestyle and playing sports will help you meet people, avoid isolantion and feel a more important role and place in life and a stronger sense of community. Try going 30 days with 30 minutes of activity and see what kind of weight loss occurs!

5. OPTIMISM

Sometimes optimism can be tough. It can be even harder when you are in a rut in your workout programs, when you are at your job and you don't feel like you are going anywhere...STAY POSITIVE. Being positive will help you get out of bed and get to the gym and take control of your career.

4. FIND..A...WAY....to STOP STRESS

You must stop stress. Stress runs your body down and inhibits your body from focusig physically and mentally. Stress is the #1 murderer of the white blood cell count. This time it wasn't professor plum in the library with the candlestick. It's the stressful job, the un-relenting kids, etc. Take time for yourself to de-stress. You need it and you DESERVE IT.

3. GO TO SLEEP

You need to get your 8 hours to function. At least 6 hours is required. Go to bed early. Plan your day beforehand. Control what you can so when the uncontrollable occurs, you can plan for it. Sleep will help you function throughout the day and is 100% necessary for any muscle gain or weight loss. This can inhibit everything you have been working so hard for.

2. PESTICIDES

Eating organic will help you, but do not only pigeonhole yourself to the term ORGANIC. Think about finding unprocessed foods. You don't HAVE TO eat organic only in order to feel healthy. Rinse your fruits and vegetables thoroughly to wash off any pesticides still left over from harvest. Keep in mind that the FDA can protect consumers against pesticides, but it is not able to watchdog for every piece of fruit that comes off of the truck.

1. STOP SMOKING!!!!

As many of you know I REFUSE to train persons who smoke Cigarettes on a regular basis. This is simple. If you can't breathe, you can't be healthy. Also smoking helps to exacerbate any ailments that you might have.

Smoking kills more poeple than accidents, homicides, suicides, drugs, and EVEN AIDS! 1 out of every 5 deaths in America are smoking related and the life expectancy of a smoker is nearly 7 years less than a non-smoker.

EVERYONE KEEP THIS IN MIND AND I HOPE YOU STAY HEALTHY DURING THE H1N1 EPIDEMIC AND FLU SEASON

OVER AND OUT!!!
